Singer and Politician Sidhu Moosewala gunned down in Mansa district

According to The Wire, Indian singer and politician Sidhu Moosewala was assassinated in Jawaharke village in Indian Punjab’s Mansa district by unknown assailants.

According to the report, the incident occurred a day after local police reduced the security of 424 VIPs, including Moose Wala.

According to the Hindustan Times, he and two others were four kilometres from their home in Moosa village when unidentified individuals opened fire on their vehicle.

According to the report, Moosewala was shot multiple times and taken to Mansa civil hospital, where he died. The other two were in critical condition.

According to Indian media, he joined the Congress party in December 2021 for the Punjab assembly elections. He ran from his hometown of Mansa but lost to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Vijay Singla.

Meanwhile, The Wire reported that his fan base numbered in the “millions,” stretching to the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. “He was famous for his rap songs with hard-hitting, sarcastic content that questioned society, politicians, religious leaders, rival singers, and spoke of the country’s problems,” according to the report.

Indian politicians reacted angrily to the news and expressed their condolences for the tragedy.

“The heinous murder of Siddhu Moosewala has shocked and saddened me. Nobody involved will escape punishment, “Bhagwant Mann, Chief Minister of Indian Punjab.

“In this extreme grief, we stand united and undeterred,” the Congress party said.
